WHO ARE THE BOYS AND GIRLS CHOIR OF HARLEM ALUMNI ENSEMBLE? The Boys and Girls Choir of Harlem Alumni Ensemble (The Alumni Ensemble), created February 2007 under the direction of Terrance Wright( former lead singer and head choreographer of The Boys Choir of Harlem), is a natural continuation of the dream of the late Dr. Walter Turnbull, founder of The World Renown Boys Choir of Harlem and Girls Choir of Harlem. While other choirs claim to be the best our history of excellence leave no doubt that we are second to none. The Alumni Ensemble and its membership, have all been trained under the direction of the Boys Choir of Harlem and Girls Choir of Harlem during the tenure of its founder Dr. Walter Turnbull as well as retaining the original artistic faculty in order to keep the artistic excellence alive. Thru the training they received as members of the Boys and Girls Choir of Harlem the Ensemble is an artistically driven organization dedicated to providing its audience with a broad-based entertainment experience.
WHAT TYPE OF SHOW SHOULD ONE EXPECT FROM THE ALUMNI ENSEMBLE?
The Alumni Ensemble performs a variety of different shows ranging from full concerts to corporate events to weddings and other private performances. In addition to maintaining the vision of Dr. Walter Turnbull and the artistic traditions of the Boys and Girls Choir of Harlem, the Alumni Ensemble features a variety of vocal styles ranging from classical, gospel, spiritual, jazz, broadway and R&B. The ensemble is unique for its’ flexibility in offering mixed (male/female) as well as all male and all female choirs, with groups consisting of 10 to 40 singers. WHAT TRAINING DO THE MEMBERS OF THE ALUMNI ENSEMBLE HAVE? Unlike most choirs that hire independent singers to perform under their name, each Alumni Ensemble member, through their training with the Boys Choir of Harlem, Inc. under the direction of the late Dr. Walter Turnbull, are experienced, successful performers, and ambassadors of the world. HOW LARGE IS THE ALUMNI ENSEMBLE PERFORMANCE CHOIR?
The Alumni Ensemble normally performs and travels with 20-25 singers, 4 musicians and 3 support staff. However, depending on the needs of our clients we can expand or reduce the number of singers and muscians to desired amounts.
